Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy and reliability of wide-range monitoring by selecting and switching one of Cambel system outputs which are amplified with different gains automatically when a pulse counting rate increases to a prescribed value or above and it becomes difficult to measure by a pulse counting method. CONSTITUTION:The output of a neutron detector 1 is inputted to the pulse counting system output means consisting of an amplifier 4, a wave height discriminating circuit 5, and a diode 6 through a preamplifier 3. Simultaneously, it is inputted to the Cambel system output means consisting of amplifiers 21-23 whose gains ratios are 1, 10 and 100 and MSV (square mean) circuits 24-26 and a voltage comparing and selecting circuit 27 compares a voltage corresponding to an MSV value found by the circuits 24-26 to select the best MSV. Then an automatic switching and correcting circuit 20 switches the output of a pump 6 to the output of the circuit 27 when the pulse counting rate exceeds a specific value. Consequently, wide-range monitoring is performed automatically and the accuracy and reliability are improved.
