Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent leakage of molten metal from both side surfaces of sand molds and prevent failure by clamping the respective two side surfaces of the multiple upper and lower sand molds which are molded in a molding machine and are ejected onto a pouring table while their front and rear surfaces are being joined with each other, by means of protecting plates.
CONSTITUTION: Upper, lower sand molds 2, 2' which are molded by a molding machine and are in close contact with each other are ejected onto the top surface of a pouring table 1 provided in succession to the molding machine. At the point of the time when a multiplicity of the sand molds 2, 2' are disposed on the top surface of the table 1, the clamping mechanisms of protecting plates 6, 6' are operated to abut the plates 6, 6' on the two side surfaces of the respective sand molds 2, 2' with the top and bottom close contact parts of said two side surfaces as a center, thereby clamping these molds. While a ladle is being transferred to the top surfaces of the respective sand molds 2, 2', molting metal is successively poured into the molds. This process makes it possible to prevent the danger during pouring work, eliminates the need for increasing the wall thickness of both side parts of the sand molds and increases molding capacity.
