Abstract
PURPOSE:To regenerate the substrate of a used drumlike receptor so that the characteristics are made almost equal to those of a fresh one by bringing an edge face of a hone rotating around its rotary axis located on a plane perpendicular to the axis of the substrate into contact with the surface of the substrate and polishing the surface. CONSTITUTION:Cylindrical or columnar substrate material 1 is rotated in a state where its central axis X is laid, and an edge face of hone 2 rotating around a rotary axis Y located on a plane perpendicular to axis X is brought into contact with the surface of material 1. Hone 2 is then run in the direction of axis X to polish the surface of substrate 1. Hone 2 has been attached to one end of freely swingable bar 5 supported by support 4 at horizontal fulcrum 3, and the press contact force of hone 2 to material 1 is regulated with weight 6 fixed to the other end of bar 5 and press contact force regulating weight 7 movable in the longitudinal direction of bar 5. Thus, by polishing the photosensitive layer of the used receptor drum, the drum is regenerated to a drum having columnar shape of high accuracy and roundness and 0.3-3.0mum S surface reoughness.
