Abstract

PURPOSE: To secure a suficient cutting stroke and conduct cutting securely by a method wherein a sheet winder is so constructed as to be able to perform the initial winding of a sheet member upstream of the point of contact between a core pipe and a touch roller at a winding position.
CONSTITUTION: The sheet member 10 delivered through a pressure contact part of rollers 8, 9 is fed to the core pipe 3 through a guide roller placed at a slantly upward position with reference to the winding position 5, and is wound at the winding position 5. Immediately before the winding of a predetermined length of the sheet member 10 at the winding position 5 is finished, a turret 1 is rotated by 180° and a wound roll 12 is transferred to another winding position 6, where the remainder of the sheet member 10 is wound. During the winding of the remainder of the sheet member 10, the next core pipe 3 fed to the winding position 5 is placed by the side of the sheet member 10 developed between the guide roller 11 and a roller 4, then the sheet member 10 is cut and is wound around the new core pipe 3.
