Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a continuous take-up method of rolling a web round a new core by cutting the web by utilizing tension produced by bringing a pair of take-up rolls having different friction factors into contact each other in a moment at time of rolling a web such as toilet paper on a core.
CONSTITUTION: Take-up rolls 11, 12 of a web take-up apparatus Z are rotated in the same direction, the roll 12 being controlled in such a manner as to suitably extend and shorten the distance between the roll 12 and the roll 11. The friction factor of a roll surface 12a larger than that of a roll surface 11a. A web W is supplied to a valley portion V1 between the rolls 11 and 12 is wound around a preceding core 17 rotated by a roll so as to start forming a log R. As the log R grows larger, it is moved to the lower valley portion V2, and the next take- up core 17 is supplied to the valley portion V1. When the log R reaches a fixed quantity, the rolls 11, 12 are in a moment brought into contact each other to cut a web intermediate the contact point and the log R, and a web end on a following core is looped up by the roll surface 12a having a large friction factor, upon which pressurized air is blown so that web end is wound round a following core.
