PURPOSE:To facilitate preparation of minute microcapsures of uniform grain size, by adding a water-soluble solvent to an aqueous acid solution of a maleic anhydride copolymer in preparing minute microcapsules. CONSTITUTION:A hydrophobic substance is dispersed into an aqueous acidic solution of a maleic anhydride copolymer, such as styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer to give an emulsion, and a melamine resin precondensate is added to prepare microcapsules under pressure. At that time, a water-soluble solvent, such as acetone or ethanol is added, thus permitting a minutely dispersed and emulsified fluid to be obtained in a short time by the effect of the solvent, and therefore, fine microcapsules of uniform size to be prepared easily.
