Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a catalyst containing rhodium unevenly distributed to a surface of a catalyst particle by a method wherein an aqueous solution of a water soluble rhodium salt is made alkaline and, after a carrier is immersed in said solution, it is dried and, thereafter, subjected to reduction treatment.
CONSTITUTION: To an aqueous solution of a water soluble rhodium salt such as rhodium chloride or rhodium bromide, sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide is added to adjust a PH thereof to 10 or more. Subsequently, a silica or a titania type carrier is immersed in said aqueous solution and, further, said carrier is dried and, thereafter, subjected to reduction treatment. Thereby, a catalyst containing rhodium unevenly distributed to a surface or in the vicinity thereof of the carrier particle is prepared. If thus prepared rhodium catalyst is used, catalitic efficiency in various reactions is increased.
