Abstract

PURPOSE:To widen the margin of the discharge maintaining voltage and to simplify a driving circuit by providing an auxiliary discharge electrode pair and discharge maintaining electrode pairs in a unit display cell and providing a phosphor layer on an area except a space between the auxiliary electrodes. CONSTITUTION:An insulated and intersecting auxiliary discharge electrode pair 402 comprising nesaglass with a transparent and conductive display is provided on a discharge space surface of the first insulating substrate 401, a dielectric material 403 is spread on the surface of the auxiliary electrode pair, and a protecting film 404 of a material such as MgO with increased secondary emission efficiency is spread on it.
