Abstract
1411804 Gas discharge display panels FUJITSU Ltd 18 Oct 1972 [18 Oct 1971] 48090/72 Heading H1D A gas discharge display device having first and second main arrays of electrodes formed respectively on opposed walls of the discharge chamber, in a mutually crossed relationship, and with both arrays separated from the gas filling by dielectric films, is provided also with an auxiliary array of electrodes connected in common and arranged at locations which alternate with the electrodes of one of the main arrays, whereby the form of the discharge at any crossing-point of the main arrays may be influenced, to reduce the probability of mis-shift during operation, e.g. application to the auxiliary array of a voltage of the same or opposite sense to that applied to a conductor of the main array respectively increases or decreases the area of the discharge (Figs. 4, 5, 8A, and 9A, not shown). Both main electrode arrays 2 may be provided with an auxiliary array 5 which may be separated from its main array by an insulating layer 3 and which may, as shown, be in contact with the gaseous filling 4, or be separated therefrom by a further insulating film (Fig. 2, not shown). Alternatively, the main and auxiliary arrays may be coplanar (Fig. 3, not shown). The device is filled with a neon/ nitrogen mixture. Circuitry for a self-shift panel is described (Figs. 10 and 11, not shown).
