Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a sharp discharge spot and improve the operation margin by providing floating electrodes in a dielectric layer corresponding to electrodes in the first layer, and making a discharging electric field which leaks into the gas space sharp. CONSTITUTION:A second layer electrode alignment 15 is provided on a first layer electrode alignment 18 spaced with an insulating film 14 of Al2O3 or borate-silicate-glass. The second layer electrode alignment 15 comprises two groups of island-shaped electrode alignments PB, PD and floating electrodes F corresponding to the position of the first layer shift electrodes. The second island-shaped shift electrodes PB, PD are leaded to two bus terminals B, D through connecting conductors BB, BD provided longitudinally alternately on adjacent inter-electrode corresponding positions of the first layer shift electrode alignment 13. A writing electrode W is provided adjacent to the rightest floating electrode F1 of the second layer electrode alignment 15.
