Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a steel material having excellent creep characteristics and a low thermal expansion coefficient by subjecting a steel material containing specific proportions of Ni, Co, C, and N to a cold working and then abruptly quenching it while giving it a stretching stess at a specific temperature.
CONSTITUTION: A steel material, consisting of 30W40% Ni, 0.01W10.00% Co, 0.10W0.70% C, 0.02W0.25% N wherein (Ni+Co) being 30W40% and (C+N) being 0.20W0.70% with residual wt% of Fe and impurities, is subjected to a cold working treatment. Then, the steel material is heated to 100W400°C, and then a stretching stress corresponding to 50W80% of tensile strength at the temperature is given to the steel material. And so, the steel is subjected, while keeping the stress intact, to a quick quenching treatment. Thus, a steel material suitable for ACSR steel core wire, control cable, etc., can be obtained.
