Abstract

PURPOSE:To prepare a high tensile wire material and a bar steel with remarkably high strain and corrosion crack resistance by a method wherein a steel material containing specific added components is subjected to hot rolling to produce a wire material or a bar steel and, thereafter, a specific heat treatment is carried out. CONSTITUTION:A steel containing C; 0.02-0.20%, Si; 0.03-1.20%, Mn; 0.3- 2.5%, Al<0.10% and one or more of Nb, V, Zr; below 0.25% in an independent form or below 0.40% in a combined form, or, moreover, containing Cu; 0.1-0.5%, Fi; 0.005-0.25%, B; 0.003-0.0050%, or above described C, Si, Mn, Al and Nb, V, Zr, one or more of Ni, Cr, Mo; below 0.8% in an independent form or below 1.2% in a combined form, Cu; 0.1-0.5%, Ti;0.005-0.25%, B; 0.003-0.0050% is provided. This steel material is subjected to hot rolling to make a wire material or a bar steel and, thereafter, cooled at a cooling speed of 1-60%/sec. in a temperature range from Ar1 conversion point +50 deg.C to below 500 deg.C.
