Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the energy efficiency of an air conditioner as a whole and to enable dehumidification if necessary, by controlling the operating level of a compressor depending on the adjustment of an indoor temperature setting unit. CONSTITUTION:Air sucked by a blower 2 installed in an air duct 1 is cooled by a cooler 3 or heated by a heater 4. The heated air is mixed depending on the degree of opening of an air mixing door 5. To drive the cooler 3, a clutch 29 for a compressor is operated depending on the indicated value of a temperature detector 6. When a room temperature setting variable resistor 11 is set for a high temperature, an output voltage VD rises and a connection node voltage Vl falls. Consequently, the rate of operation of the compressor falls and a windowpane becomes likely to collect moisture. At that time, if the outside air temperature is high, the output of an operational amplifier 7 is set at a level H to make the voltage Vl constant to keep the rate of operation of the compressor high.
