Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance the photosensitivity by forming a photosensitive layer contg. the eutectic complex of pyrylium dye and an electrically insulating polymer and a low molecular photoconductor as principal components on an electrically conductive substrate so that the dye content is adjusted to a lower value at a part near the substrate and to a higher value at a part near the surface of the photosensitive layer. CONSTITUTION:On electrically conductive support 1 photosensitive layer 2 is formed contg. the eutectic complex of pyrylium dye or thiapyrylium dye and an electrically insulating polymer such as polycarbonate having alkylidendiarylene moieties and a low molecular photoconductor of a polyarylalkane deriv. such as 1,3-diphenyl-2-p-diethylaminophenyltetrahydroimidazole as principal components. At this time, layer 2 is divided into two layers so that the dye content of one layer near support 1 is adjusted to 0.1-2% and that of the other layer on the surface side of layer 2 to 2-10%.
