Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce material cost by shortening element, by simplifying mechanism in such a manner as to directly embed a connecting platinum wire which is led to a platinum layer for an electrode and to connect a lead wire to this platinum wire. CONSTITUTION:A container 2 of a zirnonia element 1 has a bottom-provided cylindrical shape, and both inside and outside surfaces are provided with porous platinum layers for electrodes, and a joint 3 is provided on the top. The joint 3 is provided with tapered surfaces 4 and 5, and the platinum layer is so formed as to be connected to a platinum layer of the element 1. In the joint 3, one end of a platinum wire 6 as a terminal for lead wire connection is embedded in such a state as to be connected to a platinum layer formed on the tapered surface 4. The top end surface of the joint 3 is provided with a flat joint surface on which a joining platinum layer is formed and joined to a columnar holder 7. A piercing hole 9 is provided on the center of the holder 7 for introduction of air from atmosphere into a reference oxygen chamber 11 formed with the element 1 and also for passing of a lead wire 12 to be connected to the platinum wire 6, and also signal of reference electrode side is taken out from this hole.
