Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve body detection precision with simple structure by making use of a decrease in the thermal time constant of a detecting element, obtained by thermally combining a semiconductor element in a radiator, when a body comes into contact with it.
CONSTITUTION: In period T0 right after the flowing of electric current to semiconductor element 2 is started, the temperature of the junction rises regardless of whether body 5 contacts radiator 1 or not, but if body 5 is not brought into contact with radiator 1 after the period, the temperature rises as shown by curve (a). On the other hand, when body 5 is in contact with radiator 1, the overall time constant decreases greatly through thermal Zener diode 7, so that the temperature curve changes to curve (b). For the purpose, temperatures of the junction at T0 and T1 are measured and it is judged that when their difference is above a certain level, body 5 resides and when not, body 5 does not reside. Thus, the existence of the body can be detected accurately with simple structure.
