Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the effect of corrosion prevention by forming a metallic oxide coat on the surface of a shell substrate consisting of metals whose principal element is iron. CONSTITUTION:A metallic oxide coat 2 consisting of silicon oxide (SiO2) is formed on a shell substrate 1 consisting of a cold rolling steel sheet (SPC). Through holes 3, 3 are formed at the bottom of a metallic cap shell and insulating sheets 5 and 6 which make contact to both the external and internal surfaces of the metallic cap shell are penetrated through these through holes 3, 3. Metallic cap pins 4, 4 are inserted in the insulating sheets 5, 6. This improves the corrosion prevention of the substrate and eliminates the thermal degradation of the coat and its peeling off. As a result, a metallic cap for a fluorescent lamp can enjoy its long life in variation of ambience.
