Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce the water resistance against a ship, by a method wherein a ship is provided with a bulbous bow and an approximately flat stern bottom, and the rear edge of the stern bottom rises at a sharp angle to form an edge part, whereby a water current, flowing along the stern bottom, is cut with said edge part.
CONSTITUTION: A ship is made to FRP, and the bow part forms a bulbows bow 2 which is formed in the shape to combine together a circular cone and a spherical surface. A bottom 4 at a stern part is formed in an approximately flat, and a shoe piece 5 is secured on a rear end of a keel part. A propulsion propeller 6 and rudder 7 are installed between the shoe piece 5 and the stern bottom A. A numeral 8 represents a stern board, and the connection of the stern board 8 and the stern bottom 4 forms an edge part 9. This constitution enables a water current, flowing along the stern bottom, to be cut by means of the edge part 9, and thus, the involvement of the water current into the rear of the stern board 8 is almost prevented.
