PURPOSE:To obtain thin film magnetic head enabling magnetic reproduction with high sensitivity and less in distortion factor, by connecting both ends of magnetic resistance effect element forming comb tooth shape to the direction with a sharp angle toward current, to the conductor layer and supplying current. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic thin film having magnetic resistance effect like Fe-Ni is produced on the substrate 1 with electron beam and sputtering. In this case, the induced magnetic anisotropy is caused in the magnetic thin film through the production in the magnetic field. The mangetic thin film is etched to the comb-tooth shape by using the technology like photolithography to constitute the MR element 2. Then, the conductor layer 3 to supply current to the MR element 2 is vapor- deposited and etching is made to a prescribed pattren so that connection is made at both ends of MR element 2. If required, the nonmagnetic isolation layer to determine the protective layer or gap length is formed and the protective plate is bonded.
