Abstract

PURPOSE:To form a corrosion resistant coat on Al or its alloy at a low temp. in a short time by using an aqueous soln. contg. a vanadium compound as a principal component as a chemically treating soln. for Al or its alloy. CONSTITUTION:This chemically treating soln. for Al or its alloy contains a vanadium compound such as NaVO3 as an effective component at >=about 0.005mol/l concn., and it is used at about 3-10pH. By adding titanium salt, zirconium salt, zinc salt or the like to the soln. as a formed coat treating aid, the corrosion resistance of a coat is enhanced. A silicofluoride compound may be added to improve the corrosion resistance, and when it is added in combination with permanganate, the soln. has an elongated life. The toxicity of this soln. is low. and the treatment of waste water is simplified.
