Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve productivity and lower the cost of equipment etc. by continuously forging the continuously cast ingot drawout from a mold with swaging machines provided in series to the mold, thereby reducing its diameter.
CONSTITUTION: Support rolls 7 and two swaging machines 8, 8 are dispose in series in the forward of the drawing out direction of a cast ingot 6 with respect to pinch rolls 4. Said swaging machines 8 repeatedly hammer the outside circumferential surface of the cast ingot 6 by moving the two or four dies disposed around the cast ingot 6 forward and backward in the radial direction of their rotating circumference while rotating said dies with the central position of the cast ingot 6 as a reference. Thus, the ingot 6 is cold compression-forged. Hence, the cast ingot 6 is reduced of diameter irrespective of its speeds. The swaging machines 8 may be provided in onr or more than 3 stages as necessary.
