Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the velocity of action, by starting a solenoid clutch or brake through AC excitation and switch it to DC excitation as the revolution of a driven or driving shaft reaches a certain rate of voltage of the rated revolution.
CONSTITUTION: A velocity detecting device 6 is composed of a tachometer generator, reference voltage generator and comparator. Rotation of a driven shaft 4 is transmitted through a belt 8 to the tachometer generator and the resulting output is put in the comparator through the reference voltage generator to compare with a voltage a certain rate of voltage corresonding to the rated revolution, for actuating a coil driving circuit 7, if the output is larger than the said voltage. A coil of a contact 12a of the circuit 7 is driven by the output of the detecting device 6. As a switch 14 is turned on, a line voltage of an AC power unit 15 is applied to a coil 3, a friction plate 5 is attracted to another friction plate 2, and the driven shaft 4 is turned. As the shaft 4 turns at a certain rate of the rated revolution, the detecting device 6 actuates the circuit 7 to apply a voltage of DC power unit 10 to a coil 11c and the voltage from the unit 15 is rectified by a diode 13 to excite the coil 3 in DC.
