Abstract
PURPOSE:To effectively fire a successively sparking ignitor by providing an intermediate tap for an ignition coil so as to repeatedly generate large-current sparks. CONSTITUTION:Only in a low speed or a low load operating condition of a low ignitionability which is identified by discriminators 102, 103 and an AND circuit 104, a circuit 106 containing an oscillator, and an AND circuit 107 perform successive ignitions. When a power transistor 5 is turned off, a high voltage is generated in a secondary winding of an ignition coil 2. Prior to a sparking at an ignition plug 10, a high voltage may be given by feeding a current from a terminal B of a high turn ratio. After the sparking, a current is fed from a terminal A of a low turn ratio so that an impedance is reduced, thereby providing a large current. A device which successively ignites in an operating range where ignitionability is poor can effectively discharge a large current spark.
