Abstract

[Also in Division F1] In an ignition system the discharge circuit for a condenser 7 includes the primary winding 8 of at least one pulse transformer, the secondary winding 10 of which is connected to a sparking plug 11 and an electronic switch 12 which when made conducting discharges the condenser through the primary winding of the pulse transformer. A trigger circuit is connected to the electronic switch and adapted to make the electronic switch conducting during an opposite half cycle to that for which the rectifier 6 is conducting. It is stated that the transistors 21, 22 could be replaced by some other form of electronic switch, a neon lamp, for example. Several methods of delayed triggering are referred to. The apparatus, when normal commercially available components are used, is suitable for the supply and control of not more than 25-30 pulse transformers.
