Abstract
PURPOSE:To keep constant the amount of ink in a subtank and feed a wire with an optimal and constant amount of ink for printing by providing a valve mechanism between an ink tank and a subtank, in the ink type wire dot printer. CONSTITUTION:An ink tank 31 is so positioned that the surface level of ink 32 contained in it is in a pressurizing condition relative to the ink surface level in the subtank 34. The ink surface level in the subtank 34 is kept constant by a float valve mechanism 35, and ink is sucked up by the capillary action of an ink impregnating member 29 and fed to the surface of the wire 21. In this case, since the ink surface level in the subtank 34 is kept constant, an optimal and constant amount of ink for printing can be fed to the wire by adequately selecting the fiber density and the cross section of the ink impregnating member 29 as well as the length of the member 29 measured from the ink surface in the subtank 34. The ink further moves from the clearance between the wire 21 and a wire guide 22 to the tip end of the wire 21.
