Abstract

PURPOSE:To detect the viscosity of an ink liquid with high accuracy by a method wherein parallel friction plates and a vibrating plate disposed therebetween are provided, and the ink liquid viscosity is detected from the time difference obtained when the vibrating plate is moved in the gap between the friction plates in an ink liquid. CONSTITUTION:The ink viscosity detector is provided with friction plates 10 having a parallel gap 11 and a vibrating plate 12 disposed in the parallel gap 11, the vibrating plate 12 being connected to a plate spring 14 through a connecting rod 13, and the friction plates 10 and the vibrating plate 12 being submerged in an ink to be measured. When an electromagnet 16 is excited, an attraction plate 15 moves downward being attracted by the electromagnet 16, causing shielding plates 21 and 22 to move, and said movement is detected by photosensors 19 and 20. Hereupon, the output signal of the photosensor 19 is delayed by time t1, and the output signal of the photosensor 20 is moreover delayed, by time t1+t2, owing to the viscous resistance of the ink. Accordingly, if the mechanical loads other than the viscous resistance of the ink are regarded as constant, the viscosity of the ink can be highly accurately measured from the time difference between the output signals of the photosensors 19 and 20.
