Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled composition suitable for an interior automotive trim material, and having improved strength, by mixing a roughly crushed waste paper with a thermoplastic resin, agitating the mixture under heat insulation at a high speed to evaporate water, melting the resin, and impregnating the paper with the resin to utilize the frictional heat.
CONSTITUTION: 100pts.wt. Waste paper roughly crushed to a diameter of about 5mm is mixed with 25W200pts.wt. thermoplastic resin, e.g. polyethylene or polyvinyl chloride, and the resultant mixture is agitated at a high speed under heat insulation at 130°C to evaporate water in the paper and melt the resin. The waste paper is simultaneously beaten in the molten resin phase, and the beaten waste paper fiber is impregnated with the resin to give the aimed composite material composition.
EFFECT: A small linear shrinkage and improved dimensional stability after the molding.
