Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare a low-cost precision mechanism component having excellent dimensional accuracy and dimensional stability, by using a thermosetting material provided by compounding a specific polyester with an inorganic filler and short carbon fibers, as the material for the hollow part.
CONSTITUTION: A thermosetting molding material provided by compounding (A) a resin component comprising (a) a terephthalic unsaturated polyester, (b) styrene and (c) an isophthalic saturated polyester, with (B) an inorganic filler (e.g. calcium carbonate) having the particle size of ≤44μm (pref. ≤1μm) and (C) short carbon fibers having the cut length of ≤6mm, is used for the hollow part of a mechanism component. The weight ratio (a)/(b) is 60/40W40/60 and [(a)+(b)]/(c) is 85/ 15W75/25. The amounts of (A), (B) and (C) are 20W30wt%, 60W70wt% and 5W 15wt%, respectively, on the basis of [(A)+(B)+(C)]. The molding shrinkage measured according to JIS-K-6911 is preferably adjusted to ≤0.3%.
