Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a resin useful for a matrix of CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced plastic) having a long shell life, setting in short periods at low temperatures, by blending tetraglycidyldiaminodiphenylmethane, with dicyandiamide, a curing accelerator, and a phenol compound.
CONSTITUTION: (A) 100 Parts by wt. of a tetraglycidyldiaminodiphenylmethane shown by the formula and/or its condensation product is blended with (B) 2W15 parts by wt. of dicyandiamide, (C) 1.5W8 parts by wt. of a curing accelerator, (D) 2W20wt% based on the total of (A), (B), and (C) of a phenolic compound to give a fast-setting epoxy resin. An imidazole or an usea compound, e.g., 3,4-dichlorophenyl-1,1-dimethylurea may be cited as (C); poly p-vinylphenol having a molecular weight of 2,000W10,000, as D.
