Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a foam of high ratio expansion containing a large amount of an inorganic filler having improved heat resistance, by molding a mixture of vinyl acetate ethylene copolymer, an inorganic powder, a foaming agent, a crosslinking agent, etc., and heating and foaming the molded article thus obtained.
CONSTITUTION: (A) Vinyl acetate-ethylene copolymer with a vinyl acetate content of 40W90wt% preferably 60W70wt%, preferably having a melt index of 30W150, alone or a resin consisting of the copolymer essentially is mixed with (B) an inorganic powder, preferably aluminum hydroxide having a particle size of 0.1W2μ, etc., (C) a foaming agent, e.g. azodicarbonamide, and (D) a crosslinking agent, e.g. various kinds of peroxides. The resultant mixture is then molded, heated to the decomposition temperature of the component (C) or above and foamed to give the aimed product. The weight ratio of (B)/(C)/(D) is 50W500%, preferably 100W 200%/5W50%, /0.1W10% based on the component (A).
