Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a sharp and good quality image, by forming an electrostatic latent image using a recording head made by laminating an insulator and a photoconductor on a conductor, then grounding the conductor, and erasing the residual charge on the interface between the insulator and the photoconductor. CONSTITUTION:When photoconductor 32 is exposed to light and voltage is simultaneously applied to conductor 28 and backside electrode 37, corona discharge is caused and an electrostatic latent image is formed on paper 36. Fogging phenomenon due to dark current of charge from photoconductor 32 to conductor 28 is prevented by providing insulator 30 between them, but charge 33 is trapped on the interface between them, resulting in deterioration of contrast etc. In order to prevent these defects, conductor 28 is short-circuited with backside electrode 37 after image formation.
