Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate the formation work of a positive nickel plate, by forming a perform of the plate through a repetition of electrical charging and discharging and then immersing the perform in an alcohol solution to reduce any remaining active material which is in a charged state. CONSTITUTION:A positive nickel plate obtained in accordance with the sintering or paste method is repeatedly and alternatingly subjected to charging and discharging (note: even after discharge, the plate is not in a completely-discharged state but still contains some active material which is in a charged state). It is then dipped in an alcohol solution so as to chemically reduce any remaining active material which is in a charged state, thereby making the plate completely discharged. Following a procedure as mentioned above, a plate can be completely discharged with a good work efficiency and its initial charging efficiency can be suppressed.
