Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce a sintered matter tending not to elute poisonous heavy metal with a higher recovery rate of metal by crushing and drying burned ash of municipal garbage to remove metal while residues left after the recovery of the metal is sintered by crushing and pelletizing.
CONSTITUTION: Burned ash of garbage is crushed with a crusher 2 and then, sent to a dryer 4, where it is dried with an exhaust gas from a rotary kiln type sintering furnace 25 and a hot air from a hot air generating furnace 5. Iron is recovered from the burned ash with a magnetic separator 8 and aluminum is recovered with a nonferrous metal separator 10 and they are separately stored into pits 9 and 11. Then, they are fed to a crusher 13. Those crushed are trapped with a trapping cyclone 16 while those left uncrushed are stored into a pit 14. The crushed ash thus trapped is fed to a mixer 20 and after mixed with a sintering assistant from a silo 18, water is added thereto from a pump 22 whereby it is pelletized into a spherical product at a granulator 23, which is sintered in a rotary kiln type sintering furnace 25 and stored into a pit 30 after undergoing a heat exchange with a coolering machine 28.
