Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove SOx in a combustion gas at a high removal efficiency by supplying coarse grained CaCO3 particles into a furnace combusting a fine pulverized coal.
CONSTITUTION: A coal 1 is pulverized in a pulverizing machine 3 to a fine powder coal to be supplied to a burner 7 of a combustion furnace 8 and lime stone 4 with a particle size of 3W5mm is supplied into the combustion furnace 8 through a supply pipe 17 by a waste gas from a recirculation waste gas pipe 22 and decomposed to CaO and CO2 by heating. The SOx in the waste gas formed when said fine pulverized coal is combusted in the burner is reacted with CaO to be desulfurized in a form of CaSO4. A portion of said CaSO4 containing the unreacted CaO is supplied to the recirculation waste gas passage 22 by a branched pipe 19 and, because said CaSO4 is recirculated to the combustion furnace repeatedly, the desulfurization efficiency is enhanced.
