Abstract
PURPOSE:To arrange so that a northern direction may be found in a brief period regardless of a standing still at a pointed northern end after starting by reading and carrying out an arithmetic operation on an azimuth on a gyrocompass at three optional different timings. CONSTITUTION:An angle formed by an azimuth i.e. a pointed northern end on a gyrocompass and a bow azimuth is read by means of an azimuth reader 3 at prearranged timings t1, t2, t3 sounded by a clock 4. In addition, a latitude where a ship is presently located is sought by a Roland receiver 2. An azimuth, a latitude and a timing obtained in this manner are input to a computer 5 as input data and an angle formed by a northern direction and bow direction is sought in a brief period under a prearranged formula and then is displayed on an indicator 6. Thus it is possible to find a northern direction in a matter of a few minutes after starting without waiting for a gyrocompass to completely stant still.
