Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain steel products with high toughness and strength by heating a carbon steel or a low alloy steel consisting of specified basic components to a specified temp. followed by reduction under specified conditions.
CONSTITUTION: A carbon steel or an Nb-free low alloy steel is heated to 850W 1,300°C and reduced one or more at ≥8% reduction ratio per pass and a rolling strain speed represented by the equation in the recrystallized austenite temp. zone of 1,050W850°C. The steel contains ≤0.8% C, ≤3.0% Si, ≤5.0% Mn and ≤0.1% Al as basic components. The low alloy steel contains one or ≥2 kinds among ≤0.2% V, ≤10.0% Ni, ≤10.0% Cr, ≤2.0% Mo, ≤1.0% Cu, ≤0.5% Ti, ≤0.2% rare earth element, ≤0.2% Ca and ≤0.2% Zr. The upper limit value of the rolling strain speed is set to 35sec-1.
