Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound useful as a raw material of various kind of synthetic industrial or intermediate raw materials for drugs, agricultural chemicals, etc. in high purity in high yield, by reacting a halogenocarboxylic acid with a base using at least one crown ether as a catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: A halogenocarboxylic acid (e.g., 3,4-dibromopentanoic acid ethyl ester, etc.) shown by the formula I (R1 and R2 are H, halogen, alkyl, aryl; R3 is H, halogen, alkyl; R4 is H, alkenyl, alkyl, phenyl, benzyl, cyclo ring; X1 and X2 are H or halogen) is reacted with a base, e.g., NaOH to give an unsaturated carboxylic acid (e.g., 4-bromo-2-pentenoic acid ethyl ester) shown by the formula II. In this reaction, 0.1W10mol% based on halogeno saturated carboxylic acid of a crown ether (e.g., dibenzo-18-crown-6, dicyclohexyl-18-crown-6, etc.) is used.
EFFECT: Having high reaction rate, side reactions can be suppressed.
