Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound useful as an intermediate raw material for various kinds of synthetic industrial raw materials, agricultural chemicals, etc. in high purity and high yield, by reacting a halogenocarboxylic acid with a base using at least one kind surface active agent such as polyethylene glycol as a catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: In preparing a compound shown by the formula II (e.g., 4-bromo-2- pentenoic acid ethyl ester, etc.) by reacting a halogenocarboxylic acid (e.g., 3,4- dibromopentanoic acid ethyl ester) shown by the formula I (R1 and R2 are H, halogen, alkyl, aryl; R3 is H, halogen or alkyl; R4 is H, alkenyl, alkyl, phenyl, benzyl, cyclo ring; X1 and X2 are H or halogen) with a base, e.g., NaOH, KOH, etc. to carry out dehydrohalogenation, 0.1W10wt% based on halogenocarboxylic acid of at least one surface active agent (e.g., sorbitan monolaurate, polyoxyethylene dedecylamine, etc.) as a catalyst is used.
EFFECT: Having high reaction rate, and side reactions can be suppressed.
