Abstract

PURPOSE:To estimate the degree of stress of damage of a construction nondestructively by attaching a chip with one or plural slits or cracks to the construction and measuring the change of electric resistance during its operation. CONSTITUTION:Chip 1 with slit 2 is attahced to a construction such as heavy electric and atomic powered machine and appartus by means of selamic injection and electric resistance is measured seccessively or intermittently by using input terminal 5 and output terminal 6. Thus, the fatigue or creep damage of a construction at real working can be measured nondistructively and directly from the construction by using the characteristics that the electric resistance value of a chip with cracks changes together with the development of the cracks, making it possible to increase the reliability of machines.
