CONSTITUTION: As the first step, a measurement is made to detect the specific electric resistance of a metallic member which has been used at such a temperature range as not to cause any substantial precipitation of carbides. The specific electric resistance thus measured is then located on the curve of a diagram showing the known relationship between the specific electric resistance and the transient impact fracture temperature, thereby to determine the transient impact fracture temperature of the metallic member.
