Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce a titled toner of superior developability, transferability, fixability and storage stability by containing the polymer obtained by polymerizing a monomer in the presence of grafted carbon black. CONSTITUTION:A polymer of 100pts.wt. such as styrene or ethylene and 0.5- 20pts.wt. grafted carbon black of <=10% rate of polymerization are polymerized at 40-90 deg.C in water in the presence of a polymerization initiator and a dispersant, whereby the polymer of 50,000-1,000,000mol.wt., 100-170 deg.C softening points and 40-110 deg.C glass transition points is obtained. Thence, 1-20pts.wt. a low mol.wt. olefin polymer of 1,000-45,000 weight-average mol.wt. and 100-180 deg.C softening points, 50-300pts.wt. magnetic material such as magnetite or Co and 3-20wt% blackening pigment such as carbon black are compounded and the mixture is so ground as to have 1-50mu grain sizes, whereby the toner for electrostatic charge development is obtained.
