Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce a liquid developer for electrostatic photography having improved dispersing stability, transcribing properties and cleanability, by dispersing toners consisting essentially of colorant particles nd a resin in which monomers of the formulaIand formula II are copolymerized into a carrier liquid. CONSTITUTION:A mixture of a monomer of a general formulaIand a monomer of a formula II is copolymerized in a nonaqueous solvent under the existence of a polymerization catalyst to produce a resin latex. While, a colorant in which the surface of a pigment is coated by flushing with at least one kind of a fluoroplastic, polyolefin and PVC resin is produced. By dispersing toners consisting essentially of the resin latex and the colorant obtained in such ways into a carrier liquid having high insulating properties and low dielectric constant, a developer having good dispersing stability, long period shelf stability, transcribing rate and cleanability is obtained.
