Abstract

PURPOSE:To prepare a toner powder uniform in particle diameter, and superior in charging characteristics, by suspension polymerizing a fluorinated monomer or resin with a polymerizable monomer in presence of a sparingly soluble inorganic salt and a fluorinated surfactant. CONSTITUTION:A polymerizable monomer, such as styrene or n-butyl methacrylate; carbon black; a polymerization initiator, such as azobisisobutyronitrile; a prepolymer, such as alpha, omega-polybutadiene glycol; low molecular weight polypropylene as a mold releasing agent; and a fluorinated monomer, such as CH2=CH- COOCH2 (CF2)4H are mixed to give a starting material composition for polymerization, which is added to a water containing a slightly soluble inorganic salt, such as tricalcium phosphate, and a fluorinated surfactant, such as calcium perfluorooctasulfonate, 30min agitated at 4,000r.p.m., then heated to 70 deg.C, 7hr agitated to conduct suspension polymerisation, resulting forming 13mu average particle diameter particles.
