Abstract
PURPOSE: To detoxify an aqueous soln. contg. NaCN, KCN formed by absorption of HCN economically and safely by allowing said aqueous soln. to contact an ozone- contg. gas to oxidize the same to an aqueous soln. contg. NaOCN, KOCN and hydrolyzing this at specific temp.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous soln. 4 contg. NaCN, KCN formed by absorption of HCN after smoking treatment of, for example, vegetables and fruits is sent from an absorbing liquid tank to an oxidizing tower 11 by a pump 10. In this oxidizing tower in which packings 13 such as Raschig rings are packed, the aqueous soln. 4 is sprayed from the tower top and the ozone-contg. gas generated in an ozone generator 12 is sent from the lower part, whereby these are caused to react. The aqueous sonl. 4 is oxidized in the tower 11 to an aqueous soln. 14 contg. NAOCH, KOCN. This cyanate-contg. liquid 14 is pumped 15 into a decomposing tank 16, where it is hydrolyzed at ordinary temp. or relative low temp. below 60°C, whereby it is detoxified.
