Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the main thyrister from commutation failure and damage by shutting the supply power source when the forward voltage of the main thyrister is risen above a fixed value. CONSTITUTION:When the load current IB flowing in the DC motor 2 exceeds the minimum allowable ''ON'' current of the main thyrister 3, said forward voltage Vs is detected to put out the output signal SG3. As at this time the main thyrister is in the state of ''ON'', the transistor 21 is in the state of ''OFF'', the output signal SG3 is put into the contact making circuit 25 to make the contact 9 to leave off. And when the main thyrister 3 is in the state of ''OFF'', similarly the output signal SG3 is put out, while the output signal SG3 is not put into the contact making circuit because the transistor 21 is turned ''ON'' in the state of ''OFF'' of the main thyristor 3. Thereby when the load current exceeds the maximum allowable ''ON'' current, immediately the power source is cut off to prevent the main thyrister from commutation failure and damage.
