Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to measure securely the real liquid level of a coolant in a boiling water reactor, by detecting whether the tip of a detector is in a liquid or vapor by making use of a difference in thermal conduction. CONSTITUTION:Detector 16 is provided which consists of thermal conduction surface 23 exposed to a liquid heated by heater 22 and thermocouple 24 fitted to thermal conduction surface 23. Further, signal processing circuit 18 which obtaining a difference in thermal transfer by processing a signal from detector 16 to discriminate whether the detector is in a liquid or vapor, and display device 19 for the result of the discrimination are provided. Thus, the real liquid level can securely be measured even if the void rate is high.
