Abstract
PURPOSE: To ensure detection of the water level possible without being influenced by a reduced pressure boiling or the change in a specific gravity by detecting a temperature distribution with the help of numerous thermocouples installed on an electroconductive exothermic element provided inside a pressure container and deciding that a spot indicating a sharp fluctuation represents a water level.
CONSTITUTION: Inside a pressure container 1, an exothermic element 3 having a heat-proof electroinsulative powdered body 5 and an exothermic line 6 filled in a metal sleeve 4, are provided. The exothermic element 3 is equipped with numerous thermocouples 8 and is linked to a scanning-type sampler 10. Under this constitution, if the exothermic element 6 is turned ON, the exothermic element 3 uniformly becomes exothermic, but a remarkable temperature difference occurs in the surfacial temperature with the water level 2 as a border line. The temperature signal of each thermocouple 8 is inputted to a logic operating circuit 11 by means of the sampler 10 at every required time interval. In the circuit 11, the temperature gradient of each thermocouple position is calculated, and its maximum point is decided as a water level. Then it is converted into an actual value and inputted to a recorder 12. Thus the water level is detected by a temperature gradient of the thermocouple 3, so that it is possible to detect the water level with accuracy without being influenced by reduced pressure boiling, etc.
