Abstract

PURPOSE: To readily detect the liquid surface level such as boundary surface between saturated water and saturated steam which was difficult to measure heretofore by utilizing the remarkable temperature difference between the contact liquid and non-contact liquid at heater surface temperature.
CONSTITUTION: A plurality of thermocouples 2a to 2e are provided at predetermined interval at a heater 1 inserted into liquid. When the surface temperature of the heater 1 is raised at higher than the temperature in a container 3, the portion immersed with liquid 4 has larger cooling effect than the portion making contact with steam 5. Accordingly, the surface temperature of the heater 1 is lowered. Therefore, since remarkable temperature difference is obtained by two thermocouples interposed between the liquid surfaces, the position of the liquid level such as boundary surface between the saturated water and saturated steam can be measured by utilizing the temperature difference.
