Abstract
PURPOSE:to measure heat capacity at a high resolution with a simple operation by determining it based on a thermal time constant difference between an unknown sample and a reference sample. CONSTITUTION:An unknown sample 2a whose heat capacity is desired to be measured is put into an unknown sample container 2 while material of known heat capacity equal in the temperature and volume thereto, for example, a refined water is put into a reference sample container 3 as reference sample 3a. A fixed current is supplied to a Joule heat supplying heater 4 from a Joule heat power source 5 to raise the temperature of the samples 2a and 3a which are generating heat. At this point, the temperatures of the unknown sample side vessel 2 and the reference sample side vessel 3 are separately detected with temperature reference detection bodies 6 and 7 made up of a semiconductor thermocouple element being modularized. Outputs of the temperature difference dectection bodies 6 and 7 provide a heat capacity proportional to a difference in the heat capacity between the reference sample 3a and the unknown sample 2a thereby enabling the calculation of the heat capacity of the unknown sample 2a.
