Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable measurement of humidity optically without being influenced by the noise of an electromagnetic field by applying a light to a substance showing the change of color according to humidity and by detecting the humidity from the wavelength of diffuse light thereof. CONSTITUTION:A white light emitted from a light source 2 is led to the humidity sensor 1 through the intermediary of an optical fiber 4b, a directional light connector 3 and an optical fiber 4a and is applied to a reversible humidity indicating substance 15 wherein the spectral reflection property of a light wave changes in accordance with the quantity of water in air. The diffuse light thus obtained is led to a light-detecting part through the intermediary of the optical fiber 4a, the light connector 3 and an optical fiber 4c. And, when the diffuse light is inputted in a composite optical diode at the light-detecting part, a signal corresponding to the wavelength can be detected by electrodes 54, 55 and 56 provided separately in layers 51, 52 and 53, since the inputted light wave is inputted to different depth according to the wavelength thereof. By this constitution, remote measurement can be conducted free from bad influence even in a high electromagnetic field of a generator or the like.
